Honorable William Lipkin (November 20, 1908 - June 11, 2009)

It is with profound sadness that the Court acknowledges the passing of the Honorable William Lipkin this morning, who graced the Bankruptcy Bench in New Jersey for 37 years. He was 100 years old.
As has been often recalled, Judge Lipkin was a judge's judge. He was not only widely respected for his towering intellect and extensive knowledge of bankruptcy law, but also beloved for his wisdom, his even temperament, his mentoring of younger lawyers and his compassion toward litigants. We will miss him dearly.
